chip butty

Now the first option is to go out to asda and buy some £1 oven chips and whack them in the oven while you watch something on your laptop sprawled on the sofa, I however ate mine all in the week and when faced with walking back to asda this was the better choice.

what you'll need (feel free to leave stuff out at your discretion) :

  • potato 1 or 2 depending how hungry you are and like £10p each depending how you buy them?
  • olive oil can be had for like £1, I balled out on this shit tho as it was on sale
  • mixed herbs bare cheap at 80p a pot and come in useful to make boring shit a bit more interesting
  • salt to crisp it up and stuff only 60p or so for this stuff
  • bread can be had for like 50p depending how low you can go
  • the bowl and baking tray you probably stole from your mum before leaving for uni
  • a knife
  • kitchen roll / toilet paper / clean tea towel
  • chopping board is optional but it's advised to protect your accommodation deposit
prep :

  1. preheat the oven to 180c or whatever that converts too just not too high
  2. pour the oil into that bowl and add the herbs, then toss your chips you cut about in it for a while making sure they're all covered well. following this bang the salt in and rub it into them.
  3. get your potatoes and slice them into chip like shapes however you do it just remember the smaller you cut them the quicker they cook and stuff
  4. slam it all in the baking tray and wait for the oven to finish heating up
    step 2

    step 3

    step 4
cooking :

  1. Bang it in the oven for like 20 minutes or so, if you're busy doing something else just make sure you grab them before they burn. no real times needed.
  2. when finished cooking use your tissue paper or whatever to remove the excess oil

when finished serve with your bread and choice of condiment (personal recommendation in Worcester sauce) and then continue to go about your day avoiding doing your work and watching netflix

brief review

  • skill level : 1
  • cost: 1
  • bang for your buck / filling : 3

anyone who knows what side is the sharp end of the knife is and where the temperature gauge on the oven is should be comfortable with this. for the price it is reasonable filling especially if you cut up 2 large potatoes and have  bare bread it'll keep you ticking over.
